Well I'm finally here and it really is amazing. All the people at my house are great and friendly. We were given a tour of the town of Moshi; a very small town and very quiet today because it is Sunday. The food has been amazing so far. As you can imagine I have already made friends with the cooks and we are going to start sharing recipes. Maybe I'll be opening up an African restaurant when I come home !
We just met with some people about arranging a safari and a day trek of mount kilimingaro. Not sure if I'll be able to fit everything in.
Tomorrow we will be having orientation about our placements. Can't wait to hear about where I'll be.
It will be early to bed tonight since I've only slept 4 hours in the past 2 days.

Karen, I'm so excited for you---I've been checking the blog site everyday since you left and checked out all the photos and maps of Tanzania, Mt. Kilimingaro, and Moshi and the school. Really neat! I'm certainly not surprised you've already started making friends, and with the cooks, no less. Get us some neat ideas to try. :-) Now get some sleep regularly...that plane trip must have been a bear!!

ReplyDeleteTanzania is supposed to be gorgeous! I am planning a trip there in June with a few friends--we plan to do a safari in Serengeti, visit Ngorongoro Crater (termed "8th wonder of the world"), and then fly out to Zanzibar for some relaxation in the sun! I would love to visit Moshi to see Mt. Kilimanjaro, but not sure we can squeeze it in. Enjoy yourself there and see as much of Tanzania as you can!
